Yum Yum: Brown Sugar Smokies

Whenever I mention the appetizer of Little Smokies, someone always says "Yea, boys love them.".  Well, I'm hear to tell you that if I make this for an all girls event, there isn't one left in the pan.  So it isn't just the boys...

I've had this recipe so long that I have no idea where I got it.  I am sure there are a million variations of it on the Internet.

Brown Sugar Smokies
1 (16oz) package little smokie sausages (I sometimes use turkey)
1 pound bacon (turkey bacon does not turn out as well)
1 cup brown sugar
  • Preheat oven to 350
  • Cut bacon into thirds and wrap each strip around sausage. Secure with toothpick (soak in water ahead of time so they won't become brittle)
  • Arrange in jelly pan (cookie sheet with edges)
  • Sprinkle with brown sugar
  • Bake until bacon is crisp (usually about 30-45 minutes)
