I saw these on Pinterest (of course) and thought, why not? I thought these tasted like regular rice crispy treats with sprinkles but my brother who claims he doesn't love rice crispy treats (crazy!!) said that he loved these and thought they were awesome. They were just as easy to make as regular ones so you should definite try it out.
Ingredients:
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 1 (10 oz.) bag of mini-marshmallows
- 1/4 cup yellow cake mix (the dry cake mix, not prepared into a batter!)
- 6 cups crispy rice cereal
- 1 (1.75 oz.) container of sprinkles
Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat and add marshmallows. Stir until they begin to melt, adding in (dry) cake mix one spoonful at a time so its combined. Stir in cereal so it is completely coated with marshmallow mixture. Sprinkle in half of the sprinkles and mix. Press into a baking dish (any size will do) and top with remaining sprinkles. Let sit for about 30 minutes before cutting. I find spraying a knife with nonstick spray helps to cut them.
I plan on using the left over cake mix for this recipe. Doesn't it sound splendid?

ReplyDeleteComing over via Liz's Time Travel Thursday. Very interesting treats. I hopped over to your source or the cake/cookie dough recipe. I miss eating raw cookie dough . . . ever since someone I know became seriously (as in surgery/barely recovered) ill, I quit eating raw cookie dough. I think you can use meringue powder - at least that's what I've heard. Or pierce and zap the egg in the microwave for some unknown number of seconds to kill the deadly germs that might be there. I suppose that's another item to Google, huh?
ReplyDeleteYour recipe sounds quite good - something perhaps to try. Though, I usually default to chocolate chip cookies instead of Rice Krispies treats. :) Thanks, Jenn
