Before the musical, we went to dinner at a cute little restaurant and they recommended their Jalapeno Hummus for an appetizer. It was excellent. Last week, I decided to make some at home and found this recipe on allrecipe.com. My sister in law is the wonderful hummus maker of the family, her's always turns out perfect. Mine always seems to have one issue or another (too runny, too garlicky, too something...)
This was turned out superb, definitely good enough to serve to company. (A little too spicy for the kiddos though)
Ingredients
- 1 cup garbanzo beans
- 1/3 cup canned jalapeno pepper slices, juice reserved
- 3 tablespoons tahini
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon curry powder
- crushed red pepper to taste
Directions
- In a blender or food processor, mix the garbanzo beans, jalapeno peppers and reserved juice, tahini, garlic, and lemon juice. Season with cumin, curry powder, and crushed red pepper. Blend until smooth.
My husband would love this! I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for linking to Menu Monday!
