Dialing 911 for Kids

My girls are 4 years old and they kind of know how to use the phone. Recently I've been checking books out at the library that are about child safety to read to them.  I think it is great they have so many good books for them.  However, I hadn't taught them something simple like dialing 911.  Our home phone is a little confusing because you have to press the [Talk] button after you dial the number.  So I thought I would come up with something graphical for the kids to follow.

I took a picture of my phone and then I edited it.  I put red boxes around the buttons they are going to have to press along with copying the buttons and putting them in order that they will be using them in a white text box at the top of the picture.

I then laminated the picture and taped it to the wall next to the phone.

Luckily we haven't had to use it but I think it is a good for emergencies for young kinds instead of just posting the numbers 911.

  5. Good idea! My kids are a little older, and I'm not sure they'd know how to use my phone to dial--even though they can use it for games and netflix :)
